7 years ago I was introduced to the phone as a way to make connections with people. Specifically, to sell them something. Immediately I found not only was I good at it but that at the same time you can reach out to companies, make an introduction, pitch your product, maybe set a meeting, qualify, close the business and generate revenue.
At the company I was a part of before over a 5-year stretch I generated over $650,000 in recurring revenue to that firm every year. Every single prospect started out from a list. I did not know them, they did not know me. It started out with a COLD CALL and a meeting was set or interest was generated.
Fast forward to today as an entrepreneur that was the SINGLE best skill I could develop. Why? Because when you start a company you need clients. Sure, you could send emails, postcards, networking events, friends/family, Etc. but to me, picking up the phone and seeing if someone has an interest is a much better solution. Especially when it costs you nothing.
If you are a person who is in sales, owns a company, or is thinking about doing so, I would encourage you to develop this skill. I use a platform called Cardone University and study the greats as well as read books. But, nothing replaces actually making a phone call.
Be Great.
