365 Days as an Entrepreneur

As I write this it has been 365 days since I put in my resignation with my former employer and became a full-time entrepreneur. I want to try and distill 5 key lessons I have learned over the past year. But first, why did I leave a great job for the unknown of entrepreneurship? One word, regret. I did not want to be 90 sitting and reflecting on my life thinking, "what if?" What if I would have taken that leap. Now, having a team, I want to help them achieve their goals and in turn, we will achieve the company goals.

Top lessons

1. Sales are everything - If you want to start your own business you have to learn to sell. There is no way around it. You have to push and get known in the marketplace.

2. People are everything - I never wanted to have a "small business". Not that there is anything wrong with that. I want to build a team, watch them grow, and help them win.

3. It is scary - There is no way to sugar coat it. When you make a salary there is that guarantee. When you are an entrepreneur, there are zero guarantees.

4. It is worth it - My highest value personally? Freedom. This allows me to achieve that.

5. Master your craft - Especially as a B2B company, you have to know your stuff or no one will hire you. You must become the best in your space!

Go chase your dreams!
