Every single day we each take make many different decisions. Each day we make thousands of little decisions such as when we will wake up, how our attitude will be, who we will talk to, how much work we will accomplish, how to act towards our friends and family, etc.
Have you ever thought about that where you are in life right now is a compilation of every decision you’ve ever made. YOU made those decisions. No one else.
Life gets really simple when you own up to your decisions and the actions you have taken and look in the mirror and say, “I’m going to change, I’m going to be better” if you don’t like where you’re at.
Tomorrow, you can make decisions that would drastically change your life. But, most of us won’t. Why? I think it is because we haven’t gone through enough failure, pain, and reflection. John Maxwell, the Leadership author, has an amazing book called “Failing Forward”. In it he reflects on some of his biggest failures and what he learned from them. Talk about being vulnerable and getting into reflection.
Most of us are so scared to fail we never make big moves or make big decisions.
I’ve personally gotten very in-tune with reflection and seeing how my decisions impact myself and others both positively and negatively daily. I think that is part of what being a leader is all about.
How do my decisions impact those around me and how can I make that impact much greater?
I want you to take inventory of your actions and decisions daily. Are they getting you closer or farther from the person you truly want to become?
For a long time, I thought mine were getting me to where I wanted to go. But, as I took a step back I found this just wasn’t the case. I had gotten so much on auto pilot that I stopped being intentional.
Now, daily I am being intentional with how I spend my time so that It leads to good results in every area of life.
Who will you become if you keep heading down the same path?
