It’s been a moment since I've penned down my thoughts on this platform, and today, I'm both thrilled and humbled to be sharing a pivotal chapter from my personal journey.
Recently, on the 30th episode of my podcast, Disrupting You, I delved into the massive milestones that I've recently celebrated. On August 26th, I had the pleasure of tying the knot with my incredible partner, Rachel. Our honeymoon in Greece coincided with another significant milestone: my 10-year anniversary in the business world.
From a young age of 19, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, navigating through the initial phases of personal growth and eventually founding Omni Digital Group. Over these ten years, I've extracted numerous lessons, and in Greece, I introspectively gathered 10 major takeaways. Today, I'll share the first five with you:
Personal Development is Key: Early in my career, I stumbled upon a quote by John Maxwell, a leadership expert, which went, “What is your plan for personal growth?”. The realization that I hadn't charted one pushed me towards voracious reading and self-improvement. Books like Think and Grow Rich, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Good to Great significantly shaped my perspective.
Seize the Opportunity: My initial months at Cottingham and Butler consisted of relentless cold calls. Taking advice from my mentor, Jordan Montgomery, I believed in “blooming where you’re planted”. It’s all about making the most of what's in front of you, no matter how trivial it might seem.
Foster Relationships: As I began to understand the nuances of sales and business, I recognized the immense value of relationships. In the business world, to climb the ladder of success, you need allies, mentors, and genuine relationships. The foundation lies in helping others succeed and having them support you in your endeavors.
Focus is Essential: The proverb “Chase two rabbits, and you will catch neither” aptly sums up one of my significant learnings. Spreading oneself too thin or getting lost in numerous side hustles dilutes your primary mission. A concentrated beam of light can make a significant impact. The same applies to our attention and efforts.
Save for Opportunities: Throughout my five-year tenure at my previous job, I rigorously saved, amassing close to $100,000. It wasn’t just about accumulating wealth; it was about creating a safety net for future ventures. Having savings can provide the liberty to seize opportunities when they knock on your door.
While this is just half of the wisdom I've amassed, these lessons form the bedrock of my experiences in business. I'll soon share the remaining insights, which delve even deeper into my journey.
Thank you for being part of my story. Stay tuned for more reflections, and as always, keep disrupting!
