Have you ever used the excuse, “I don’t feel like it”? We all use it and it never seems to fail that when we do use this excuse we don’t take action and push past this feeling most often.
Now let me ask you this, what happens when you do use this excuse and push past your “feeling”? You feel like a million bucks. When you don’t feel like making the call or going to the gym but you do.
I was listening to Andy Frisella’s podcast a few weeks ago and he called it the bitch voice vs the boss voice. During the day we have these almost subconscious conversations with ourselves and battle back and forth on our choices.
Will we listen to the “bitch” voice or the “boss” voice? I think truly the one we choose is the one we feed the most. Think about it, we all have 24 hours in a day. The most successful person on this planet, however you define it, has the same amount of hours as YOU. Why are they farther along? Because let’s say there are 100 decisions in a day we have to make that can ever so slightly even at .001 change the direction of our lives and you make 20 of them vs a person who makes even 60 of them. Now, if you simply look at this small effect and what this does to your life over time it is a magnifying effect. We’ve all seen what a penny doubled for 30 days is. It is over $5,000,000 after that 30 day period.
But, when asked if you would take a penny doubled every day for 30 days or say $1,000,000 cash now, most would choose the million. It’s all about delaying gratification, pushing past how you feel, and feeding your boss voice. How do you do that?
For me…
Podcasts - I listen to podcasts to fill my mind with good new ideas.
Books - I love to read, especially authors like Grant Cardone who fill me with belief and it can be done thinking.
Action - Whenever I am scared, I use this as an indicator to move. I was scared to drop out of college, I was scared to leave my job, I was scared to move to a new place, I was scared to start a company from scratch, I was scared. But, if you are reading this, know you have what it takes. That isn’t just a line. Take it from me, a college dropout. :)
Mentors - I’ve surrounded myself with quality people my whole life. I can name probably 10 people who have really poured into me and the lessons I’ve learned are timeless and the effects will last forever.
Positive Circle - Who you are around daily is huge. Do you build them up? Do they build you up?
Affirmations - Look yourself in the mirror, as corny as it is, and just stare at yourself. You don;’ need any ra ra, you need to look at yourself, and tell yourself, “I have what it takes right now to take action and chase after my dreams.”
Reflection - I reflect often on where I’ve been, where I am, and where I’m going. I reflect on who I’ve been and who I am now. How do I want to get better? It’s humbling to look at yourself in this way but necessary. I’m excited about where I am. I feel like personally I’ve made amazing strides in 2020 and carrying that into 2021.
Big Goals - I have always set massive goals. While I rarely reach them, it causes me to become a new version of myself. My highest value above all is growth. You must be constantly growing because you aren’t you are moving backward. While I view my goals differently now, dominating in all areas, you must know where you’re going. You wouldn’t get in the car unless you knew the destination right?
Let me know how I can help you. Let me know how I can push you to be the best version of yourself possible. That is my mission in life. I want to reach my full potential and help others in turn do the same.
